Sami Lange is a printmaker by training; she creates works on paper by stitching together small detailed drawings that often give the appearance of intricate paper quilts. Her drawings focus on the details found in everyday life highlighting the importance of patterns, habits and the ‘small things.’ The places she travels, the relationships she nourishes and the choices she makes are abstractly represented in the work. She utilizes mark making, stitches and a controlled chaos of color to represent her goal of balancing the demanding responsibilities of life’s many roles.
